Spring in Wilsonia

All the snow has melted away, and many Wilsonia residents have opened up their cabins for the summer. A few have already moved in. The new Wilsonia Times is available. All newsletters are available here for download, including the Quilters Project List, and important Fire Prevention letter and the Summer Calendar of Events (also available through Google Calendar link on the side).

Entrance Station Now Open

The Big Stump Entrance Station is now open. Wilsonia property owners with gold stickers on their vehicles may use the far right lane to enter the Park for access to Wilsonia. See Aug. 1st post for more info.

New Big Stump Entrance Station to Open Soon

The New Big Stump Entry Station into Kings Canyon NP is scheduled to open at the end of August.

Wilsonia property owners and family members may obtain gold stickers for their vehicles at the Kings Canyon Visitor Center or at the Big Stump entry station.
These stickers identify vehicles registered to individuals who qualify for an exemption to paying entrance fees.

Other visitors to Wilsonia can obtain a non-recreation pass without paying a fee.

Property owners with vehicle stickers and anyone visiting private property that wishes to recreate in the National Park (outside Wilsonia) will need to purchase a recreation permit or pass.

Note: The procedure for property owners receiving vehicle stickers has not changed.

After a cold Memorial Day weekend and another storm and cool down this past Monday night and Tuesday, it looks like we will have some great temperatures this weekend and beyond. If you have not yet opened your cabin and begun the process of yard cleanup, it should be a great weekend to do that.

Don’t miss the Black Pot Cook-Off on Saturday the 16th.

Winter makes a brief return to Wilsonia

The temperature dropped on Friday the 25th, overnight 2″ of snow fell. Folks up for the long weekend awoke to a beautiful white dusting covering decks, roofs and tree boughs. By Saturday evening most snow had melted away.

A plumbing issue in the Clubhouse caused the Board of Directors to cancel the Saturday evening potluck (would have been very chilly in there anyway). Cold temperatures and a light Village population caused the Duck Race scheduled for Sunday to be canceled also.

Chimney Fire Information

Early Start to the Summer Wilsonia Season

As of April 27th, all roads in Wilsonia are driveable. What a contrast to last year when some were not able to access their cabins until Father’s Day. What that means, is that for the first time in 3 years we will have a Memorial Day Weekend Potluck. What the mild winter also means for us is that it could be a dry summer which equates to high fire danger. Please make an effort to get your property cleaned as soon as possible.
