Those of you who were at the July 3rd potluck, heard from SEKI Wildlife Biologist Danny Gammons that the mother bear and two cubs who have been causing problems in Grant Grove and Wilsonia, knocking over dumpsters, would most likely have to be destroyed.

The report today from Michael Saxton, Kings Canyon Bear Tech, is that after modifications to the trash dumpsters in Wilsonia and the campgrounds, the bears have been behaving, not getting into the garbage. “If they continue to behave and stay out of the campgrounds we will back off and leave the mother bear and cubs alone” says Michael.

Please – let’s all be diligent in the handling and storage of our food and garbage – save the bears. Please securely latch the dumpsters!
